Well this is embarrassing. For some reason we assumed Warm Bodies had already been released… like, months ago. So when this new trailer started showing up all over the interwebs recently, we were kinda’ confused. Was there a limited release or something? Because we can’t really be that bad at this whole zombie blog thing, can we?
Maybe we were simply confused since Warm Bodies has been something of an internet sensation since the original short story appeared online almost three years ago. The full length novel was quickly snatched up by Atria Books and published in 2011. The film version began shooting only a few months later in Montreal, and now it’s scheduled for release on February 1st, 2013.
A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.
So, what’s the verdict? Well, it’s an original take on the zombie genre with a major theatrical release and stars John Malkovich… so that’s a good thing. However, it’s produced by Summit Entertainment, the same studio that unleashed The Twilight Saga upon the world… and that’s a very, very bad thing.
