Humans Vs. Zombies is apparently based on a live-action role-playing game popular on college campuses around the country. Sounds like fun, right? Well, fortunately the film version lives up to that promise; by which i mean the film is actually fun as well! Not great or amazing or brilliant or anything… just fun and entertaining.
Half coming-of-age, half survival horror; the film follows a small group of college kids who get caught in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Luckily they come across a campus security guard who just happens to be well-versed in zombie-centric conspiracy theories. And with his help, they may just make it out alive. Or they may not. Or some of them may while others may not. Or the security guard may make it, and the kids may not. You’ll just have to watch the movie.
And you should watch the movie sometime. Because if you’re looking for a well-made, entertaining zombie movie that’s funny but not a comedy… i don’t think you could go wrong with Humans Vs. Zombies!
Best Scene: I actually thought the game at the beginning of the film looked like more fun than any of the actual zombie attacks. Then again, i don’t think a zombie attack is supposed to be fun. But you know what i mean.
Worst Scene: Aw, look… the bitchy, tough girl has tender emotions and stuff. It’s like, really hard for her to deal with the zombie apocalypse, guys. And now she wants to have a heart-to-heart and share her feelings. Boo-freaking-hoo.
Further Adventures: The film comes with a motion-comic bonus feature, which appeared to be some sort of prequel/concurrent story or something. Honestly, i could only make it through about four minutes.
