After watching hundreds and hundreds of zombie movies, you begin to think that you’ve seen it all. It’s kind of like the menu at Taco Bell; no matter how you combine them… all the ingredients are basically the same. But every once in awhile a movie comes along that’s so completely bonkers, you just have to sit back and admire it.

For example, everything in Undead has already been done: the wacky over-the-top gore of Dead Alive, the slapstick horror-comedy of Evil Dead 2, and the zombie infection from outer space as seen in Slither. Yet somehow it manages to be something more than just the sum of its parts.

The film opens as a vicious meteor shower rains down on the sleepy town of Berkeley, bringing with it a zombie virus from outer space! As if that weren’t bad enough, mysterious aliens have also erected a barrier around the town, trapping the townsfolk inside.

A ragtag group of survivors including a pregnant couple, bumbling constables, local beauty queen and the town crazy proceed to fight off zombie hordes, acid rain and alien abductions all while attempting to piece together the mystery behind the apparent attack. But all is not as it seems!

Best Scene: Oh, man… there are lots of great scenes. But i knew exactly what i was in for the moment a zombie punched through someone’s face and grabbed their brain!

Worst Scene: Yet another movie that needlessly tacks on an extra ending. Unfortunately this one was not only unnecessary, but it didn’t jive with the rest of the film’s comedic tone.

Ship’s Mast: I’ll be damned if i can tell the difference between a Kiwi and an Aussie. At one point in the film the Australian flag fluttered to the ground dramatically, as if to give me a clue. But even their freakin’ flags look the same to me!
