One great thing about this whole zombie craze is that it provides a lot of artists the opportunity to work on some very exciting projects. Graphic designers, authors, filmmakers… they’re all out there contributing to the genre in really creative ways. And perhaps no website has helped them more than Kickstarter.
Seriously, just search for “zombies” at the official website and you’ll see how many projects have already been funded by the generous zombie-fan community. But i want to draw your attention to one very deserving project that appears to be in danger of not reaching its goal.
Z. is a zombies-versus-survivors downloadable trading card game best described as “Magic: The Gathering meets The Walking Dead” (and Left 4 Dead, and Dawn of the Dead, and Highschool of the Dead, and pretty much anything with “Dead” in the title). Are you a zombie, or are you a survivor? Choose your side!
$100k may seem a bit ambitious, sure… but if you watch the video, i think you’ll agree that Z. is one top-notch production! Just take a look at the talent already attached to this project; Tim Schafer (Psychonauts,) Ron Gilbert (Monkey Island) and Jessica Nigri (Lollipop Chainsaw.) That alone should have both zombie fans and gamers excited!
Now, i’ve never actually played a collectible (read: nerdy) card game, digital or otherwise… but since Z. is based right here in San Francisco, i have to admit that i’m a little biased. So go ahead and check out the official Kickstarter website and see what you think!
