Resident Evil 6: Anthology & Archives Editions Announced!

I suppose we might as well keep this week’s zombie video game theme going with some official news about the upcoming Resident Evil sequel. Along with the release of the standard edition on October 2nd, Capcom will offer two platform-specific collections for the PS3 and Xbox 360. And strangely, the content differs depending on which version you get.

Resident Evil 6 Anthology (PlayStation 3)
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
Resident Evil 4 HD
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil: Director’s Cut

Resident Evil 6 Archives (Xbox 360)
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
Resident Evil 4 HD
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X HD
Resident Evil Degeneration (DVD film)

Kind of an odd way to split up the series, isn’t it? Seems like PlayStation owners are getting the best deal. But it probably has something to do with Blu-Ray capacity and the previous availability of each title. Regardless, i’m still gonna’ take it as a slight against me personally as an Xbox owner. So screw you Capcom!

Anyway, both the PS3 Anthology and Xbox 360 Archives are available for preorder right now. And no matter which collection you decide to pick up it’ll cost you somewhere around $89.99, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. But i’m probably gonna’ need a complimentary review copy to really know for sure. (Hint, hint!)

The first two games are still by far the best. I loved the first one.

If only the film series was as good!

  3. Cassie Gotto says:

My boyfriend thought the was going to hate RE 6 because he hated Operation Raccoon City, but he ended up loving it! According to him, he says “it’s a great game, if you don’t think of it as a Resident Evil game.”
