Apparently there’s an entire community of LEGO fans out there who spend their time creating awesome little projects in the hopes that LEGO will actually review and officially release them one day. Basically the process goes something like this:
1. Have an Idea?
Create a project, share your idea and see what other people think.
2. Get 10,000 Supporters
With 10,000 supporters, your idea will be reviewed by LEGO for a chance to become an official LEGO product.
3. Receive Royalty
If the project passes the review, it will be produced and you as the idea owner will receive 1% of the total net sales of the product.
Well, LEGO CUUSOO member yatkuu has just passed the 10,000 Supporters threshold with his version of The Winchester pub from Shaun of the Dead. In fact, the design has become so popular that Simon Pegg himself has thrown his support behind the project!
The set contains both the inside and outside of the building, the six main characters and a couple of zombie minifigures. You can check out the official website for more information including pictures, updates and a little bit of the controversy surrounding the project.
This certainly isn’t a done deal yet. But let’s hope that all the support, media coverage and throngs of zombie fans help convince LEGO that this project is a winner!
