2010 Zombie Safehouse Winner!

The winner of the 2010 Zombie Safe House Competition has finally been announced. And if you still think that some shopping mall in the middle of Pennsylvania is the ultimate zombie safehouse, you haven’t seen the SS Huckleberry! Imagine a battleship escorting a flotilla of apartment buildings and farm land. It even runs on sludge made from the zombies themselves:

Live along the Mississippi River and have some of America’s favorite skylines as your bedroom view.

Safely removed from the zombie hordes by the Mississippi’s mighty waters, enjoy the remains of these cities in peace.

Need more zombies to create fuel? Move to the next major city center and fill-er-up!

The contest was sponsored by Architects Southwest, and featured some really awesome designs. In fact, you can still check out all of this year’s entries over at the official website. And if you have a great idea for the next ultimate zombie safehouse, you’d better get started now. Because they’re already gearing up for next year’s competition!
